We started our trip from the Hefei airport to Bengbu. We were very lucky to have the assistance of Jane, who offered to help us arrange transport from Hefei to Bengbu. She is a wonderful person with great reputation, and has helped a number of families travel in Anhui. If you ever need to contact her, please email her here. She did a fantastic job by us!
On our way, we noticed a few graveyards in the fields along the way. These are not common in the city, but can be seen from time to time along the highway in the countryside. These had special significance on the day we traveled (April 5th), as this was the occasion of the "tomb sweeping festival", when families traditionally visit the graves of their ancestors to clean their grave markers, and offer ceremonial yellow paper money (which is burned - thus delivering them to their loved ones in heaven), and offering of ceremonial food and other tokens of devotion.
